Immunopathogenesis of HIV-1 Infection
H. Clifford Lane, MD
Deputy Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease

Dr. Lane was one of the first investigators to study the immunopathic mechanisms of HIV, ultimately making seminal observations that helped establish the field of HIV immunopathogenesis. In the clinical area, Dr. Lane has been a world leader in the innovative approaches to therapy and has used experimental therapeutic interventions as a means of futhering our understanding of HIV pathogenesis. Dr. Lane is on the forefront of clinical trials of immune reconstitution of the immune system after effective HAART therapy. His reseach continues to open a glimpse of hope into the possibility of eradicating HIV.
