Application Guidelines

Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2009 until April 30, 2009.

Applications can be submitted at any time, and completed applications will be considered at the next available scheduled meeting of the Admissions Committee.

  • Completed applications received by the MPH office before December 20th will be considered, and a determination mailed to the applicant, by January 30th.
  • Completed applications received before February 15th will be reviewed and a determination mailed by March 15th.

To have official copies of test scores sent to the MPH Program, use ETS Institution Code 2900. Please do not enter a separate department code.

Admission

The Penn MPH program is based in the School of Medicine. The program involves faculty from all over the Penn campus. Faculty representatives from the 8 schools are involved in admissions and curriculum development and decisions.

NOTE: All applications for MPH study are through the Office of Masters Programs in the School of Medicine. The PENN MPH program is administered by the School of Medicine, and the degree will be from the School of Medicine.

Application forms

Application forms can be downloaded as MS Word Files. On-line application procedures are not yet available. Penn's ETS school code for score reports is 2900. Please do not enter a department code.

Financial aid

The MPH program is unable to offer financial aid.

International Students

International applicants to the MPH Program must submit official copies of their TOEFL scores, if their first language is other than English. Additionally, international students must submit official copies of their ETS scores to the MPH Program as part of their application if their degree was received from an institution outside the U.S.. Unofficial copies - that is copies supplied by the applicant - cannot be considered. Our ETS school code is 2900. Please do not enter a department code.

Re-application Policy

Applicants to the Master of Public Health Program who were not accepted by the program cannot appeal the decision of the Admissions Committee. However, they can elect to reapply to the program no sooner than the following academic year. The application fee is waived for re-applicants who re-apply within five years of the previous application date. Re-applicants are not required to submit transcripts or standardized test scores if the transcripts or scores have not changed.
